Blogging As A Hobby And Making Money Online

Blogging has mainly become my hobby where I express my thoughts, opinions, and share my past/present experiences in life. In addition, I learned that I can earn extra income thru blogging too. I joined paid-to-blog companies and affiliate sites to make money online. There was a time I got scammed. Not only me but also some of the bloggers I know. I am blogging for three years and counting...still earning too. With legit PTB sites, my work has guaranteed rewards. Below is the list of the legit PTB sites I joined in. Besides earning, they also can help bring traffic to your blog or website.

Blogging requires time and hard work. Once you learned the basics, everything will be easy.

My First Cell Phone

It is so amazing how a cell phone can connect us with our loved ones in seconds. Just a dial and there you go, talking to your family and friends instantly.

I began using a cell phone in 2000. It was a Siemens phone that I bought for about a $100. That was my first gadget acquired from my salary. I did not subscribe to monthly plans so i only used call and text cards. From then on, I replaced and bought cell phones depending on the features I wanted. Although phone features like web access, mp3 player, camera/video feature, and email are essential to users who are gadget geeks, I am contented with the simple call, text, and camera features. Now I am using a Samsung cell phone. As long as I can make a call without problems at all, I am satisfied.

Texas is my favorite place in the entire world. I’ve known for awhile that I wanted to move here after I graduated from the University of South Carolina with my best friend, Sarah. I’m so glad that we both wanted to live here and move here after graduation. It has been a crazy month ever since we graduated, and neither of us could find a job in the beginning. We had to decide if we wanted to move to Austin without having jobs, or if we wanted to stay in South Carolina where our parents are from. We decided to move out here to Austin and try to find jobs once we got out here. We visited SHOPelectricityratesTexas.com/ to find the energy provider that we wanted, and moved in to a small place right outside of the city that my dad bought for us. We ended up both getting jobs- I got one as a teacher and she got one at a marketing firm. We also have found some great friends and are loving our lives out here in Texas!

EBay Shopping Costs Less

Finally, I have given my sister the laptop that she was asking. It is not a brand new laptop but it looks and functions like new. I bought it from eBay for a very reasonable price. Windows XP, security system, Microsoft Office, and other necessary programs were already installed. My sister was very happy that she has a laptop because she can use it with Internet surfing for research.

I like shopping at eBay because I can get items in a very cheap price but still in good useable conditions.

I’m an IT consultant  and it’s always surprising to me how little my clients seem to know  about laptops. Many people seem to think that they have limitless  capacities and they can store thousands of movies on their computers  which is simply not true. Others think that it’s cheap to fix a laptop  when they break it but it usually costs nearly how much a new computer  would run them. I always recommend to my clients that they purchase some  type of warranty program. I also recommend CLEAR-INTERNET  to my clients since some people seem to think all new laptops come  equipped with free internet access which is just not the case. I make  sure everyone understands how important it is to back up their data  since it can be gone in a flash. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve  been called in only to have to report to a client or business that all  of their work is gone forever. That’s what happens when people lose  their hard drivesand it’s my job to prevent it!

Yahoo Will Discontinue MyBlogLog

I received an email from Yahoo saying that they will discontinue MyBlogLog. I am one of the subscribers of MyBlogLog and I have built friendships with it. It is kinda surprising. MyBlogLog helped my blogs get visitors.

Maybe it didn't work out for MyBlogLog. I feel sad about it.

I am watching my spending now. It is not because I do not have money. It just that, I do not want to spend too much and pay high minimum payment due on my credit card bill. That would be very frustrating if it happens.

My Christmas shopping is almost done. My money is budgeted but the presents are well accommodated. The earnings I get from making money online helps a lot with my personal funds. I enjoy shopping but I am a wise shopper too.

Blog Redirects To A Blank Page

There was something going on with my blog/website earlier. Messages from my friends and readers prompted in my inbox saying that they view my Workplace blog because it redirects to a blank page whenever they come visit. I was alarmed! What happened? The last thing I did last night was replying to comments.

I checked and checked. Maybe there is a virus digging inside my computer. After running a system scan, my Anti-virus and Spyware Sweeper software found a Malware. Huh! Effective security. But it did not solve the problem on my website's redirection to a blank page. I went to Google Help and posted a report about the code bx-g9g9g9 in the forum. If I am lucky, I will be receiving replies in a couple of minutes.

I was thinking maybe there is a virus planted in my website. Possible.

I would not be able to sleep with this problem on my head. So I continued checking, until I remembered somebody told me about this paid-to-blog website that is causing blog loading problems. Hhmm...intriguing. Well, how do you know? I tried viewing Bright Bundles, (which is a member of that paid-to-blog website). It redirected to a blank page! Same thing happened to the other one. I looked on the html codes and removed code of that paid-to-blog website. When I previewed my blog, it showed the whole page without redirecting anywhere. Immediately, I did the same thing to my Workplace and yes, it loaded up quick and well.

Sheez! So there's a problem with the scripts of that paid-to-blog website. Now that I do not have the tracker, how can I get tasks? They still owe me money from my hard work. Do not tell me the rumor is true: that they are a SCAM???

I am doing pretty good with making money with my blogs. Though my earnings are a few bucks less than the last year's, I can say it is still makes me happy.

'Been into blogging for more than a year now. I must say it is fun. Sometimes I encounter bad moments online (like bugs from other blogs or website) but I get over it. I am learning new things everyday.

You see, maintaining a blog is not that easy. Dedication, patience and more patience are the primary things needed in executing and sharing the ideals to readers. Fresh ideas should always come out so you have new things to share with people. Money making opportunities follows and you will gain rewards for the hard work.

I know laziness strikes...it is natural. But I do have a time to get incoming traffic to my blog. Yes, they are not high but still I am keeping up. The money I earn from blogging helps me through a lot.

I Figured Out What Happened

After a few posts in the Entrecard forum and asking questions to the fellow bloggers, I got some kind responses about the problem with Entrecard drop widget in my blogs. They said that EC did some system upgrading.

But I figured out what happened, really. The third party cookies was not enabled in my settings. So I did some ticking and then, my EC widgets are back. Now I am enjoying EC drops again :)

Now that the first batch of the videos in DVDs are on its way to my Uncle back home, I can start making the second batch for my family, to be mailed next month. Like I said before, my husband and I took a lot of videos. The recent one was from our vacation and visiting SeaWorld San Antonio. We took pictures too. I picked the pictures that I want to get printed this weekend. I am definitely sure my family, especially niece and nephews will love looking at the pictures and watching the videos.

At last, we're done burning the recorded video to DVDs. We recorded videos from last year to the present-Thanksgiving and Christmas, zoo trips, fishing with my cousin and her husband, SeaWorld San Antonio vacation. Trouble With Video Editing

It is very frustrating when you get something done but totally not. We bought this video editing software from Sony, right? When my husband uploaded all the recorded videos to the computer, he started doing a movie project. When it was done, he tried writing it to DVD. We thought that was fine but when we played the DVD on television, it does not have a sound at all. We were figuring out what happened. You think there is something wrong with our DVD writing? We would really love to finish the project so we can send the videos back home.

Over Three Hours Playtime

My husband done the setting up of the video editing software in his second computer. But when we tried using the software, the recorded videos took forever. It said we have over three hours of video in there. Whaatt?? My husband could not believe it. The videos' total playtime will be that long?

Well, we took a bunch of videos on our trip to Tyler recently. Including the previous recorded videos from last year (Thanksgiving and Christmas), a couple of DVDs will be used. At least, the Sony video editing software is in our computer now.

"Cannot Read Device"

This is unusual. I am uploading pictures from my Canon PowerShot digital camera but nothing is happening. The prompt is "cannot read device". What is going on? The batteries are good and my camera is fine as well. I did not drop it or anything. This is the second time the problem occurred. Do you think the camera's cable or the port is the problem? Ugh! I am so upset. Does it mean I need to get a new one? :) There are Canon digital cameras on sale out there, you know.

We were able to buy Sony Handy Camcorder. It's one of the important things in our wishlist last year. The first time we used the handy camcorder was on Thanksgiving Day in Tyler.

Now we bought a video editing software at Fry's Electronics in Plano. The purpose is to learn how to convert the videos in DVD. My husband and I also want to learn how movie making works. Video recording is still a bit difficult for us this time because both of us never had a camcorder before. We are very excited with our new gadget!

It is April. 'Cannot believe how time flies huh? Well when we are busy, we do not notice time's passing by. Before we know it, the week is almost over.

Anyway, I earned a bit again from blogging last month. Though it is not as big as with those full time bloggers' earnings, my extra income online is pretty good. I only do blogging on the side because I have a full time job now. And like what I said, it is doing pretty good.

New CPU From Emachines

We have a new CPU. My husband bought it in replacement for the old one which he is worried about crashing. Actually we have two computer set at home-old and new. He is using the old one for his side work but we share the new one for office jobs and internet surfing. Now the new CPU is for the old PC set because it has been serving him for years now.

My husband decided to buy a new CPU because:

1. the old one is very slow
2. plenty of useful programs installed but the CPU is taking years to open one
3. it needs to be replaced :)

He bought the new CPU from Walmart. Its manufacturer is Emachines and it is working well. The CPU comes with two speakers, keyboard, cables, and manuals. Also Windows XP is already installed. Great! That is what we wanted.

Close To Getting Paid

I am so excited about this. I never thought I will get this far with this program...close to getting paid by the Get-Paid-To-Read Emails. The process is they will send me the advertisers' emails to my Member Inbox. Then all I have to do is read each emails within a certain period of time. There is a fixed rate for each email I read. So every time I checked and read emails, the amount will add up to my account until I reach the minimum pay-out.

Patience...that is what I learned in every thing I do. Patience is a virtue.

Cell Phone Replacement

It was very disappointing to carry a damaged cell phone. My phone was broken. I figured it out waking up Sunday morning without hearing the alarm. I tried enabling the speaker phone but it did not work.

My honey took my cell phone to a Verizon Wireless store this afternoon. The staff said the speakers of my phone were damaged. Since it is still in the span of the one-year warranty (which will end on February 27), there was no charge for the replacement. You know what, I thought of that idea (smiles). Now I enjoy using my Samsung cell phone again. It is one of my precious possessions and I depend on it so much.

Gadget 1#: Sony Handy Camcorder

We are very excited with the new toy at home :). One present in my wish list has been granted. I got myself a Sony Handy Camcorder. I bought it from Fry's Electronics in Arlington. It is an 80GB hard disk drive, 60x optical / 2000x digital zoom, and a touch panel display. With the help of a software, I can do video editing to convert videos to DVD. Pretty neat huh?

I am so happy for this video came because I can now shoot videos especially on our upcoming vacation back home, which I am planning to have this year. What makes this handy camcorder special to me is that, it is a Sony product. I am working on familiarizing myself with the video camera operation. And I am practicing shooting videos too :) Hopefully I can make a pretty one soon.

When I learned about getting paid thru PTC websites, I gave it a try. You know it is difficult to know what earning opportunities online are legit.

I was hesitant before but I joined in Clixsense.com. They give $.01 for every ads clicked. As of now, I am active in Clixsense. Earning with PTCs needs patience. In fact, I already received a payment check (minimum $ 10.00) from them. It is not bad. Now I am waiting for the other PTCs such as Easyhits4u.com and Clicksia.com to send me some bucks on my PayPal account in the next few days. My blogging funds from last year was pretty good too.

Blogging is such a time consuming hobby. If a blogger does not have the patience, he or she might suddenly quit after a few months of setting up a blog. When making an entry to post, we do a lot of editing to make it more pleasant to the readers. Checking the grammar and spelling means so much to bloggers like me.

There are some website/blog owners who are spending money for traffic. Others just rely on free service. Of course, if you want to gain decent figure of incoming traffic to your website, an extra effort is needed. That includes paying for directory and search engine submissions.

I am not sure if the idea will work for me but I am not hesitant to try. The concern is, I do not have budget for it right now. I consider myself a newbie to blogging. My writing skills is not that good enough but I am open to improvements. Learning is a part of the process.

I see that Alexa is back to its normal traffic tracking now. I read that there was something wrong with one of their servers or something. Anyway, I am glad everything is alright now. This month I hope I could allocate more time with blog updating. I know I should do that because this process helps a lot in progressive blogging as making money online is concerned. Our desktop computer was cured from a virus Monday morning. Dell's system repair service staff who are stationed at the store nearby did a good a job. They removed the virus, saved the important files, and had everything fixed. Do you want to know what was the virus? The virus' name was "Anti-Virus 2009". They even provide us a free Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software. The computer is all cleaned up and cured. My husband has been using his Dell desktop computer for years now. Good thing he approached Dell's staff at the store. Thanks to Dell's quick and reliable repair service. Now my husband is back to doing his side job and I am back to blogging also.

Spellchecker.net is a website that provides online tools for spelling, grammar, and composition checking. To bloggers like me, this is very useful because it is easy for me to see what word or words are supposed to be corrected. I am very keen to subject and verb agreement so I use Spellchecker.net's spell and grammar checker tool. In fact, this helps me become efficient in composing my blog entries and even preparing correspondence.

Buying A New Gadget

Yehey! I am so excited. My honey and I agreed to buy a beautiful gadget this month. Though I wish it should have been a laptop but I am happy with what we are buying - something that is very useful in travel especially in going to beautiful places with the family. Right now we are looking for better deals from online shops and at the stores. We are still trying to watch our budget since we do not have that much for the holidays. Thrift shopping is what we would like to do. So we are looking forward to find a good quality gadget.

Entrecard Loads Too Slow

I do not know if you have noticed but I think something is wrong with Entrecard tonight. It is taking too long to load when I logged in. And when I started to switch blogs to do some dropping Entrecards, the page will just stuck in there doing nothing or it will just try to load but in the end the "Page Error" appears. It is so frustrating. I guess the website is loaded with bloggers doing their blog hopping routines. I hope I can work with ease with Entrecard later. Did you encounter the same problem?

Pleasing Gmail Themes

When I opened my Gmail.com to check emails today, I was surprised with the style appeared on my screen. I thought I was in technical trouble again but no. Presenting...Gmail.com's stylish themes! Then I figured out how to set themes now. I played with them for a while then I chose the cherry blossoms theme. It looked fine on my screen because I like the pink color. There is something I noticed as I change one theme to another. Correct me if I am wrong but other themes need user's location to be defined before they appear. Anyway, I bet you enjoyed Gmail.com's theme as much as I do too. For those who do not have an email account with Gmail.com, create one now.

USB Ports In Microsoft Keyboard

This is the new keyboard we got for the desktop computer I am using right now. What cool is that the keyboard has two USB ports. So it is easy for us to connect the digital camera cables if we need to upload pictures in the computer. The keyboard is a little bit heavy though but that is okay. The USB ports and soft keypad is more important. And you know what, we bought this for $3.00 from a garage sale.

This is my first post for the month. I hope that in November and the coming months will be lucky for me as far as making money online is concerned. Like you, I am also receiving suspicious e-mails in my inbox. I am very careful about this because I do not want myself to get into scams. To help us protect ourselves from e-mail scams, I am sharing with you some tips on how to recognize and guard from scam e-mails. Be aware. Be cautious.

1. Be wary of e-mails asking for your personal information.

Any e-mail asking for your name, birth date, e-mail username, e-mail password, or any other type of personal information, no matter who the e-mail appears to be from, is almost certainly a scam.

If you have any reason to believe it may be legitimate, do not reply to the e-mail or click any hyperlinks; instead copy and paste the web URL or go to that company's website for contact information. Don't hesitate to contact the company's support channel to confirm legitimacy.

2. Carefully read e-mails that appear suspicious.

E-mails that are poorly worded, have typos, or have phrases such as "this is not a joke" or "forward this message to your friends" are generally scam e-mails.

3. Protect your Hotmail password. Create a strong password

4. Take action!

If you think someone has accessed your e-mail account, that the sign-in page looks fraudulent, or you receive a suspicious e-mail that tries to confirm a password change you didn't authorize, change your password immediately.

5. Help us identify new scams. "Report phishing scam". Whatever you do, do not reply back to the sender.

I am so thankful I had the opportunity to study computers. When I was in high school, my first choice college course was Computer Science. For some unavoidable reasons, things did not go the way I wanted so I ended taking up Office Management. Everything was fine. I liked the subject matters. I learned Advanced Typewriting, Internet, Email, Spreadsheet, Computer Drawing, Basic HTML, and PC Operations.

When I started to work, everything I learned from college was very helpful. The skills I have right are still improving with the help of the continuous growing technology.
